The deity of the Goddess Durga 2012
Manbazar Moira Durgamela :
This Durga worship temple is more than 225 years old. It is called
Shib-Durgamela. The deity of Goddess Durga and the deity of God Shib both are
worshiped here. Although, Durga is worshiped yearly, Shib worship is weekly throughout
the year. The inheritor Mongalmoy Dutta is the main organizer of this temple.
This family puja (worship) fully under their control and all the cost they bear
their selves.
By the word of Mongalmoy Dutta once their ancestor were
landlord and familiar to our locality, hence they had begun this worship on
that time , now only we maintain this tradition.
We have no allotted property for worship purpose, fully
depend upon our family income. We can’t provide much amount for puja purpose
due to our short income and budget.
This Durgamela follows the rituals and time schedule of
Patharmohra Raj paribar Durgamela. Nabapatrika ‘awakening’ and ‘Biswarjan’
(immersion) occur along with Patharmohra and others Durgamela jointly.
On the days of ‘Astami’ and ‘Nabami’ no goats are immolated here
instead of ‘pumpkin’, ‘sugarcane’,’sweets’.
