Jharbagda Durgapuja: Jharbagda village is situated West side of Manbazar
approximate 3 k.m away from Manbazaer town on the northern side of Manbazar
–Barabazar road. I t is very old village near locality of Manbazar. Highly
educated village most of the people are Hindu upper cast of Mahanty and Mahapatra
locally call ‘Utcal Sampradai’.Many of them work in different foreign country.
It is colloquial that , during the
time ,the king of Gor Patharmohra who had come from Burdwan first time about
more than 300 years ago; they also come along with the king and other
colleagues. They become the ‘Dewan of Manbazar king’ on that time.
Worship of deity of the Goddess Durga at Jharbagda
Once
,Harihar Mahanty ,the resident of Jharbagda Namopara had dreamed ,they should
performed the worship of Goddess
Durga at their place;hence they started Durga
worship by the leadership of ‘Dewan’ families’ Subal Mahanty father of
Jagannath Mahanty approx 200 years ago. Who had got the message of worship did
not belong to the family of ‘Dewan’,so he followed worship through ‘Ghat’,i.e
‘Nabapatrika’ and his hirers follow the same rituals till now during the
worship of deity of the Goddess Durga every year.

First
Durga temple was made by the ‘Dewan’ family of Jharbagda, now it is called
Dewan Ghar Durgamela. At present 25 families and ancestors arranged this
worship every year. They have a pond of 100 bigha in the name of Goddess Durga,
which the main source of their family worship.
The pond is located at Amjora
village near Jamtoria under Manbazar-II block.At present they got rupees sixty
five thousands from it and used full amount for the purpose of worship of the
deity of the Goddess Durga. No extra money is collected from the family members
for the worship.

The icon
of deity of Goddess Durga is made by Jiten Rakshit and their family member
,village Illujargo,Jhalda from the earlier time.
Whole worship is performed by priest Panchanan
Pathak and their family,village Gilirbanjora,Jorda/Shaldiha every year. Dhak
(drum) comes from Chepua from earlier time ritually.
